I'm Brandon, a developer who builds interactive applications, tools that make life easier, and data visualizations that reveal hidden patterns. Whether it's creating an engaging experience or automating tedious tasks, I'm always thinking about how to make things work better.

My journey into programming started with Minecraft mods and Unity game development. I'm entirely self-taught, which taught me early on to figure things out, ask the right questions, and learn on an as needed basis. That curiosity led me to my first and longest role at Looking Glass Factory, where I worked on games and demos for holographic displays. Over time, I transitioned from building experiences to QA, ensuring other demos and products met the bar, and eventually back to software development where I was given ideas and requirements to turn into working products.

The most exciting part of development for me comes in two forms. There's the satisfaction of watching someone interact with something I've made—like a chef watching someone enjoy a meal they just cooked. And then there's the relief of automating a tedious task, knowing I've freed up time and energy for something that actually matters. Those two feelings drive my ideas and keep me programming.

I've spent most of my career working in C#, with Python for automation and some JavaScript along the way. Right now, I'm exploring data science and machine learning, filling in knowledge gaps and expanding into new territory that combines my love of patterns with practical problem-solving.

My development philosophy is simple: complexity should be reserved for actual complexity, not for navigating bad interfaces or repetitive tasks. If something can be simplified, it should be. At Looking Glass, I had the freedom to design projects and pitch them for approval. As part of a startup, I learned to think about the real value a feature would bring—would it increase user adoption? Make retention easier? Solve an actual pain point? That lens has shaped how I approach every project.

Outside of coding, I'm into history, soccer, traveling, and learning languages. There's something satisfying about understanding underlying systems and patterns, whether it's a codebase, a historical event, or how to order coffee in another language.
